Miami Beach, Twice in One Summer: Loews, Rao's and the Sea Spa

Updated: Oct 15
When a hotel gets it right, you go back. We went back three weeks later.
In the summer of 2025 we stayed at Loews Miami Beach twice: a long weekend in July, then again in early August. Same hotel, same restaurant, same spa. That's the whole review, really. But here's why it works.

Why Loews Miami Beach
Loews sits right on Collins Avenue in South Beach, on the sand, walking distance to the Art Deco District. It's big and lively, with a huge pool deck, direct beach access and a VIP team that made both stays feel personal. For a quick getaway where you want everything close at hand, it's an easy, reliable base.

Experience tip: a car service from the airport is the way to arrive. On our August trip we flew into Fort Lauderdale instead of Miami and had a driver bring us straight to the hotel. FLL is often easier, and it's about 45 minutes away.
Rao's, downstairs
Rao's in New York is famously almost impossible to get into. The Miami Beach outpost is inside the Loews, and it is a much easier reservation, especially if the hotel helps. Classic red-sauce Italian, the famous meatballs, a buzzing room. Rao's was great both times, and on the second trip we booked a table for six through the hotel's VIP team.
Experience tip: ask the hotel to book Rao's when you book your room, and confirm the table again a week out. Weekend nights fill quickly.
Joe's Stone Crab
On one of our Loews stays we went to Joe's Stone Crab, a few minutes away at the south end of Miami Beach. It's a tried and true crab spot.

Experience tip: go in season, when the crab is fresh. Florida's stone crab season runs from October 15 to May 1.
The Sea Spa
The Sea Spa at Loews was a highlight both visits. In August we booked a mother-daughter side-by-side deep-tissue massage on arrival day, the best way to land after a morning flight. You can request your therapist preference when you book.
SOAK cabanas
SOAK is the hotel's pool and cabana experience. If you want a real pool day in Miami's summer heat, shade and service make the difference, so reserve a cabana before you arrive. It provides a private bathroom with shower, air conditioned room with a sofa and TV, amenity SUNBUM sunscreen collection, and refrigerated drink assortment and an upstairs outdoor lanai. On a weekend, the hotel will hold one for you.

Summer in Miami Beach: what to know
It's hot, and it rains. Expect short afternoon storms in July and August. Plan beach time for the morning and the spa or a long lunch for mid-afternoon.
Hurricane season runs June through November. Travel insurance is worth it for summer trips.
Summer rates are lower. Luxury hotels in Miami Beach are often noticeably cheaper than in winter, which makes it a smart time for a quick escape.
Plan for delays home. Summer storms delayed our flights home both times. Keep the last day loose.
The Touchpoint take
Not every trip needs to be an expedition. Sometimes the best plan is a hotel that does everything well, a great dinner downstairs and a spa appointment the afternoon you land. That's Loews Miami Beach in summer.
